The IHD Corporation assessments, the DISC II and The Achiever, when used as a part of the hiring system, reduce turnover and insure the quality of new hires.

 

IHD Corporation will be presenting the DISC II and Achiever Certification Seminar, which is designed to increase your training and expertise in administering and interpreting the results of the DISC II assessment and The Achiever, the two assessment tools that make up the IHD Corporation Assessment System.

 

 

Assessment System

 

From 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., the seminar will consist of workshops and discussions on the DISC II assessment.  This session will help enhance your understanding of the temperament concept of behavior.  An initial overview is given of the four basic temperaments and temperament blend. Plotting point dynamics are covered, as well as how to read the "whole picture" of all three graphs and verify a person's temperament pattern.

 

After lunch, from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m., we will conduct a workshop on The Achiever, the personality profile used in conjunction with the temperament profile (DISC II) to gather more detailed and specific information on the individual, as well as identify “adaptive” behavior.  The purpose of this workshop is to increase your training in interpreting The Achiever as well as using it in management.  The more versed you are in the correlations of different personality dimensions, the more valuable you will find the written reports and other IHD Corporation tools you use in hiring and developing your people.

From 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., we will also cover correlations between both assessments and provide a deeper understanding of how to use the profiles in creating "models" or “benchmarks” for certain positions within the organization as well.  In order to participate and learn the most from this session, please bring with you the profiles of at least five people you have personally assessed and whose profile results you have found to be particularly challenging in reading and interpreting. Also, a test will be given on each section of the training.

THE DISC II CERTIFICATION

 

I. Review of the Temperament Model of Human Behavior

 

  1. The three causes of human behavior
  2. Background of the temperament model
  3. Review of the four basic temperaments
  4. What difference temperament knowledge makes in hiring and managing employees.

II. Proper administration

of the DISC II assessment

 

  1. Insuring the accuracy of the temperament profile
  2. Specific administrative instructions for profiling done in other locations/cities.
  3.  

III. Interpretation of the DISC II

 

  1. Understanding your temperament and that of others.
  2. Key points on identifying patterns under each graph.
  3. Plotting point dynamics - discussion of changes from one graph to the other.
  4. Note: Correlation of primary temperament to Achiever scores reviewed in the afternoon.
  5. Discussing strengths and weaknesses of different temperaments according to specific job criteria.
  6.  

IV. Verification of the DISC II

 

  1. Developing your knowledge of temperaments.
  2. Question and answer session.
  3. Specific questions to ask applicant/employee to verify profile.
  4. Specific questions to ask applicant/employee if there are changes in the three graphs.

 

V. Learn by doing

  1. Write down specific questions before coming to the seminar.
  2. Bring your own profiles that you have given to applicants or existing employees.

THE ACHIEVER CERTIFICATION

 

I. Identifying strengths and weaknesses of an applicant or employee.

 

  1. Examples of different personality characteristics.
  2. Discussion of how extreme scores may indicate red flags for hiring.
  3. Increase your knowledge of new hires and areas on which they need work.

II. Develop a model or “benchmark.”

 

  1. Develop a scoring range in your company or norm for successful and unsuccessful people in sales, management, etc.
  2. Duplicate your winners and increase your odds by identifying "low performers" in your business.
  3.  

III. Reading correlations between dimensions.

 

    A. Certain key correlations help you identify:

  1. The "entrepreneur."
  2. Stress that may distract and de-energize.
  3. Poor management risks.
  4. The "difficult" personalities.
  5. Red flags with “fatal flaws.”

 

    B. Correlations with the temperament (DISC II) profile tell you how a person expresses and manages his natural tendencies, etc., or how he has learned to adapt.

 

        1. Managed expressions of each

        temperament (i.e. adaptive behavior).

  1. Ex: Well managed high D’s typically score assertive and competitive but patient.
  2. Ex: Well managed high S’s and high C’s typically score reserved but impatient
  3. Ex. Well managed high I’s typically score interactive but organized.
